I am Russian-Orthodox believer and Orthodox Christians believe in the God- Son (Jesus), the God-Father and the Holy Spirit.
In the Orthodox Church you can see a lot of St. Icons. These icons are not idols. They were usual people, who believe in the God, helped poor and ill people and protected churches during wars and other negative factors. They were unusual for usual people, because they could give more to other and asked nothing for themselves.
Good example is St. Nicola. Not only Russian Orthodox Christians believe to St. Nicola. Most of people of different nationalities and different religions come to St. Icon of St. Nicola every time and pray to Him to give them health, protect their family and sometimes to express their gratitude for something. |
During God service Christians usually pray of standing, make low bows and make the sign of the cross by the three fingers of the right hand. In the Russian Orthodox Church no music. You can hear only choir.
The women have to use headscarves and skirts when they go to the Russian Orthodox Church. But now the Orthodox Church is more flexible to these regulations and very often you can see women without scarves and in trousers.
The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas the 7 th of Januar. My opinion about different religions is only one: "If people believe, pray to the God and keep the Ten Commandments in their hearts and heads - it means that they follow the God. The Lord loves everybody of us and we have to love and respect every
person, even if this person has different culture, nationality and
belief (faith)".
